US stocks were set to open slightly lower from Wednesday's close following yesterday's Juneteenth market holiday as investors continued to assess the magnitude of geopolitical tension and its impact in the US economic outlook. Futures contracts for the three main averages were marginally below the flatline. President Trump stated that the decision to strike Iran would take up to two weeks to decide whether to strike Iran as there was still chance of a negotiation. Still, Washington maintained its hawkish rhetoric against Tehran and Israel continued to strike Iranian nuclear sites, extending hesitancy for riskier equities. On the corporate front, energy producers were set to waver as benchmark oil prices trimmed their rallies. CarMax was due to open over 10% higher after delivering strong economic results. In the meantime, investors braced for some volatility ahead of the triple witching session, which marks the expiration of stock index futures, stock index options, and stock options.

Industrial production in Mauritius rose by 2.6% year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025, marking the highest since Q2 2023 and accelerating from a 1.5% growth in the previous period, driven by accelerated output growth in electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply (8.9% vs. 1.6% in Q4 2024) and manufacturing (1.8% vs. 1.4%). Conversely, growth slowed in mining and quarrying (2.2% vs. 9%) and water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation (0.1% vs. 1.1%). On a quarterly basis, industrial production decreased by 18.3% in Q1 2025, reversing from a 14.0% expansion in Q4 2024.

Portugal's industrial producer prices fell by 3.1% year-on-year in May 2025, accelerating from a downwardly revised 2.6% decline in April. This marked the steepest annual drop since December 2023, largely driven by sharp decreases in energy prices (-7.2% vs -5.6%), non-durable consumer goods (-4.1% vs -4.0%) — particularly olive oil — and intermediate goods (-2.4% vs -1.9%). In contrast, upward pressure came from consumer durable goods, which rose by 3.2% (unchanged from April), and capital goods, which saw a slightly faster increase of 0.9% (vs 0.7%). On a monthly basis, producer prices edged down 0.1% in May, following more significant declines of over 1% in both April and March.
