The annual inflation rate in Bosnia and Herzegovina rose to 2.2% in December of 2024 from 1.5% in the previous month, the highest in 15 months. The higher inflation rate was supported by sharp price growth for food and non-alcoholic beverages (4.9%), restaurants and hotels (6.3%), healthcare (4.4%), and other goods and services (3.6%). From the previous month, consumer prices rose by 0.4% in December, rising at the same pace noted in the earlier period.

The GDP in Bosnia and Herzegovina grew 2.6% year-on-year in the third quarter of 2024, up from a 2.3% rise in the previous three-month period, preliminary estimates showed. Production increased mainly for construction (7.2%), wholesale and retail trade, transportation and accommodation and food services (7.2%), information and communication (7.8%), and professional, scientific and technical activities and administrative and support service activities (4.9%). On a seasonally adjusted quarterly basis, the economy expanded 1.4%, following a 1% growth in the prior quarter.
