The Ibovespa rose 1% to close at 139,206 on Wednesday, its highest level since July 8th, as a firmer domestic macro backdrop and clearer policy signals, coupled with supportive corporate flows, reduced the equity discount on Brazilian cash flows. Brazil’s mid-month inflation print eased, with the 12-month IPCA-15 slowing to 4.95% in August, marking progress toward the central bank’s target, easing immediate inflation concerns, and softening the case for prolonged policy tightening. Central Bank President Gabriel Galípolo’s assurance that markets and the FX mechanism are functioning smoothly, alongside his pledge of vigilance, helped dispel policy uncertainty and allowed investors to price in a steadier monetary path. On the corporate side, major banks were among the top gainers, with Banco do Brasil up 1.2%, Santander 0.9%, and Itaúsa 1.4%, while Rede D'Or São Luiz (1.8%) and Companhia Saneamento (2.6%) led the advance.
