Consumers reported improved expectations for their future financial situation (-1 vs -2), while expectations for unemployment weakened (1 vs 7), indicating fewer concerns about future job prospects. The propensity to save also increased (21 vs 19), while sentiment toward the general economic outlook remained unchanged at -26.

Belgium’s trade surplus narrowed sharply to EUR 716.6 million in June 2025 from EUR 1,138.0 million in the same month of the previous year. Exports edged up 0.9% year-on-year to EUR 41,077.2 million, dragged down by lower shipments to EU countries (-1.1%) but rising to non-EU destinations (5.3%). In contrast, imports rose 2.0% to EUR 40,360.6 million, driven by higher purchases from non-EU countries (10.0%) while imports from the EU declined (-2.6%). For the January-June period, Belgium recorded a trade surplus of EUR 11,585.2 million, up from EUR 10,288.4 million in the same period last year.

Belgium’s industrial production rose 6.3% year-on-year in June 2025, rebounding from a downwardly revised 7.1% fall in the previous month. The upturn was largely driven by a strong recovery in manufacturing output, which grew 7.8% after a 7.6% decline in May. Meanwhile, production in mining and quarrying slipped (-1.1% vs 2.9%), while electricity, gas, stream and air-conditioning supply continued to drop (-6.3% vs -1.0%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production climbed 5.2% in June 2025, reversing a downwardly revised 2.4% decrease in the prior month.
