Belgium’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.12% in September 2025 from an eighteen-month low of 1.91% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since June, mainly driven by faster price increases for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.38% vs 2.63% in August), alcoholic beverages, tobacco (3.31% vs 2.74%), and health (1.56% vs 0.83%). Additionally, costs declined at a slower pace for clothing and footwear (-0.89% vs -3.13%). Meanwhile, inflation moderated for housing and utilities (1.45% vs 2.48%), education (3.91% vs 4.47%), and restaurants and hotels (2.39% vs 2.95%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell by 0.3% in September, following a marginally 0.01% decrease in the preceding period.
