The annual inflation rate in Latvia rose to 3.9% in April 2025, the highest since August 2023, up from 3.3% in the previous month. The acceleration was mainly driven by higher prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages (7.3% vs 6.4% in March), clothing and footwear (1.4% vs 0.2%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (2.4% vs 1.8%), and miscellaneous goods and services (5.4% vs 0%), as well as a slower pace of deflation in transport-related goods and services (-1.3% vs -2.1%). Conversely, these upward pressures were partially offset by weaker inflation in alcoholic beverages and tobacco products (8% vs 9.8%), healthcare (3.7% vs 4.6%), and education (9.7% vs 10.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 1.1% in April, marking the largest monthly rise since March 2024, following a 0.9% gain in the previous month.
