Finland’s trade deficit narrowed to EUR 0.89 billion in March 2025 from EUR 0.99 billion in the same month of the previous year, according to preliminary estimates. Exports climbed by 18.1% year-on-year to EUR 5.6 billion, driven by increased sales to EU (20.5%) and non-EU countries (13.5%). Among trading partners, shipments increased mainly to Germany (29%), Sweden (15.5%), and China (41.3%). Meanwhile, imports rose by 13.3% to EUR 6.5 billion, mainly due to higher purchases from EU (11.4%) and non-EU countries (16%). Imports grew mostly from Germany (20.4%), China (42.2%), and Netherlands (19.3%). For the first three months of the year, the country’s trade shortfall decreased to EUR 1.3 billion from EUR 2 billion in the same period last year.
