The annual inflation rate in Finland stood at a four-year low of 0.7% in January 2025, unchanged from December 2024. Prices increased at a softer pace for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.65% vs 5.56% in December), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (0.07% vs 0.51%), communication (2.67% vs 2.81%), education (2.94% vs 5.2%), restaurants and hotels (2.37% bs 2.78%), and miscellaneous goods and services (0.63% vs 1.79%). In addition, deflation continued for housing and utilities (-2.02% vs -1%). Meanwhile, costs accelerated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.85% vs 0.51%), clothing and footwear (1.44% vs 0.98%), health (6.73% vs 2.36%) and recreation and culture (1.7% vs 0.71%). Moreover, prices rebounded for transport (1.15% vs -0.07%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.2%, rebounding from a 0.1% fall in December 2024.
