Malta's annual inflation rate edged higher to 2.1% in March 2025 from 2% in the previous month. This marked the highest inflation rate since November 2024, as prices increased at a faster pace for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.2% vs 2.6% in February), transport (3.2% vs 2.6%), clothing and footwear (1.8% vs 0.2%), education (5.2% vs 4.8%), and miscellanous goods and services (3.8% vs 3.6%). On the other hand, prices eased for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.7% vs 2%), recreation and culture (2% vs 2.3%), and restaurants and hotels (2.4% vs 2.9%). In addition, prices were stable for housing and utilities (0.7%) and furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (0.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1.1% in March 2025 from 0.4% in the previous month, marking its highest reading since June 2024.
