North Macedonia’s trade deficit widened to $329 million in June 2025, from $230 million in the same month of the previous year. This marked the highest monthly trade shortfall since February, with exports increasing by 8.7% year-on-year to $801.5 million, while imports climbing 16.8% to $1,129.3 million. For the January to June period, the country’s trade deficit totaled $1,777.8 million. Exports rose by 4.2% compared to the same period a year earlier, amounting to $ 4,427.5 million, primarily driven by higher sales of beverages and tobacco (50.8%), animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes (30.6%), machinery and transport devices (15.8%), and raw materials (other than food) other than fuel (14.5%). Meanwhile, imports advanced by 3.5% to $6,205.3 million, mainly due to increased purchases of animal and vegetable oils, fats and waxes (31.5%), beverages and tobacco (14.4%), and mineral fuels, lubricants and related products (6.1%).
