North Macedonia’s trade deficit narrowed to $258 million in March 2025 from $294.1 million in the same month last year. Exports fell by 3.8% year-on-year to $754.4 million, while imports declined by 6.2% to $1,012.4 million. Considering January to March period, the country’s trade deficit was $885.9 million. Exports decreased by 3% from a year earlier to $2,031.1 million due to lower sales of chemicals and related products, n.e.s (-16%), manufactured goods classified chiefly by material (-5.4%), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (-8.6%). Meanwhile, imports dropped by 1.8% to $2,916.9 million, attributed mainly to reduced purchases of crude materials, inedible, except fuels (-16.4%), machinery and transport equipment (-8.3%), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (-8.7%).
