Saudi Arabia’s annual inflation rate rose to 2.3% in August 2025 from 2.1% in July, slightly above expectations of 2.2%. Main upward pressure came from housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels (5.8% vs 5.6% in July), mainly due to faster rent growth (7.6% vs 7.2%). Price growth also picked up for food and beverages (1.1% vs 1.0%) and restaurant and accommodation services (3.0% vs 2.8%), led by higher accommodation costs (4.7% vs 4.4%). Personal care, social protection, and other goods and services rose further (4.8% vs 4.5%), boosted by jewelry and watches (18% vs 17%). Transport inflation accelerated (1.2% vs 1.1%) on stronger passenger transport (5.3% vs 5.0%), while education services edged up (0.8% vs 0.5%). In contrast, inflation eased for furnishings and household equipment (-0.3% vs -0.2%) and for information and communication (-0.4% vs -0.3%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.1% in August, the same pace as in July.

The annual wholesale price inflation in Saudi Arabia stood at 2.1% in August 2025, unchanged form the previous two months, and still at its highest level since October 2024. This was mainly driven by higher prices in food products, beverages, tobacco, and textiles (0.4% vs 0.3% in July) and other transportable goods, except metal products, machinery, and equipment (4.2% vs 4.1%). At the same time, costs remained unchanged for agriculture and fishery products (4.4%) and ores and minerals (-0.8%). Meanwhile, prices stalled for metal products, machinery, and equipment. On a monthly basis, wholesale prices increased by 0.2% in August, rebounding from a 0.1% decline in the previous two months.

Industrial production in Saudi Arabia expanded by 6.5% year-on-year in July 2025 from a downwardly revised 6.1% increase in June. It marked the fastest growth in industrial output since January 2023, primarily driven by a 7% rise in manufacturing output, supported by strong gains in coke and refined petroleum products (13.8%) and chemicals and chemical products (8.9%). Additionally, mining and quarrying activity grew by 6.5%, as the country’s oil production rose to 9.53 million barrels per day in July 2025, up from 8.94 million barrels in July 2024. The water supply, sewerage, waste management, and remediation sector also recorded robust growth, rising by 8.5%, while electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply increased by 0.9%. On a monthly basis, industrial output edged up to 1.3% from a downwardly revised 1.2% increase in June.
