Bangladesh’s annual inflation rate slowed for the third consecutive month to 9.32% in February 2025 from 9.94% in the previous month. This marked the lowest inflation rate since April 2023, as prices moderated for food and non-alcoholic beverages (9.24% vs 10.72% in January), housing and utilities (8.67% vs 9.02%) and alcoholic beverages, tobacco and narcotics (25.97% vs 26.9%). Conversely, costs accelerated for transport (6.15% vs 6.06%), clothing and footwear (10.33% vs 10.19%), furnishings, household equipment, and routine maintenance of the house (8.2% vs 7.56%), health (4.28% vs 4.16%), communications (9.49% vs 9.22%), recreation and culture (6.79% vs 6.58%), education (9.02% vs 8.87%), restaurants and hotels (11.96% vs 11.51%), and miscellaneous goods and services (13.62% vs 12.76%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.15% in February, reversing from a 0.15% rise in the previous month.
