The annual inflation rate in Lebanon accelerated to 14.4% in May 2025 from 13.0% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since February, driven by faster price growth in food and non-alcoholic beverages (21.4% vs 20.9% in April), housing & utilities (18.0% vs 15.8%), and recreation and culture (6.1% vs 4.8%). Costs also rebounded for furnishings, household equipment & routine maintenance, increasing by 3.2% from an 8.4% drop in the prior period. In contrast, inflation moderated for clothing and footwear (10.3% vs 11.0%) and restaurant & hotels (13.5% vs 14.9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices surged by 1.3%, following a 0.7% rise in April.
