Retail sales in Argentina soared 108.2% year-on-year at current prices in January 2025, though this marked a slowdown from the 121.5% growth recorded in December, as the country continues to feel the effects of high but gradually easing inflation. Various retail sectors experienced more modest growth, including electronics and computers (159.7% vs. 169.3% in December), food halls and restaurants (113.5% vs. 128.0%), bookstores and stationery (91.1% vs. 89.9%), pharmacies and perfumes (89.3% vs. 124.7%), and clothing, footwear, and leather goods (98.5% vs. 104.6%). On the other hand, leisure and recreation (153.3% vs. 143.3%) and toys (140.7% vs. 129.4%) saw faster growth rates.
