The AIB Ireland Services PMI declined to 52.8 in April 2025, down from March’s three-month high of 55.3. The latest reading marked the softest service sector expansion since January 2024, amid growing concern over the economic impact of global trade tensions. Total activity and new business increased at the slowest pace in 15 and 18 months, respectively. Three of the four sub-sectors posted higher growth in business activity, led by technology, media, and telecom. Employment increased at the second-fastest rate in eight months, although it softened compared to the previous month. Regarding prices, both input and output cost inflation eased to a five-month low, with transport, tourism, and leisure registering a notable easing in price pressures during the latest period. Lastly, business sentiment deteriorated to the weakest level since October 2020, linked to uncertainty over the fallout from US tariff policies and financial market volatility.
