The annual inflation rate in Montenegro rose to 3.4% in April 2025 from 2.6% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since July of 2024, mainly due to higher prices of food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.8% vs 1% in March), housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels (5.9% vs 5.5%), health (13.2% vs 10%), restaurants & hotels (9.5% vs 8.6%), recreation & culture (6.7% vs 6.3%), and furnishings, household equipment & equipment & routine household maintenance (5.3% vs 3.5%). In addition, inflation remained unchanged for communication (1.8%) and education (0.9%). Meanwhile, deflation worsened for both transport (-2.5% vs -0.7%) and clothing & footwear (-1.4% vs -0.8). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased to 0.8% in April, from 0.3% in the preceding month.
