The annual inflation rate in Montenegro rose to 4.5% in July 2025 from 4.2% in the previous month. This marked the highest reading since May 2024, as prices increased faster for food & non-alcoholic beverages (5.2% vs 5% in June), housing, water, electricity, gas & other fuels (6.9% vs 6.2%), recreation & culture (8.2% vs 7.3%), and miscellaneous goods and services (5.3% vs 4.9%). In addition, costs fell at a softer pace for transport (-0.3% vs -1.4%) and clothing & footwear (-3.4% vs -3.5%), while it remained unchanged for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (at 5.8%) and education (at 0.9%). Meanwhile, prices moderated for, furnishings, household equipment & equipment & routine household maintenance (4.3% vs 4.8%), health (12.8% vs 13.2%), communication (1.5% vs 1.6%), and restaurants & hotels (7.8% vs 9%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up to 0.6% in July from 0.4% in the preceding month.
