The annual inflation rate in France was confirmed at 0.8% in March 2025, the same as in February, remaining at its lowest level since February 2021. Steeper declines in energy prices (-6.6% vs -5.8% in February) and manufactured goods (-0.2% after stability) were offset by rising prices in services (+2.3% vs +2.2%), particularly insurance, as well as food (+0.6% vs +0.3%), especially fresh products (+3.8% vs +1.8%). Meanwhile, tobacco prices rose at a slower pace (+4.1% vs +4.5%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices increased by 0.2%, following stagnation in the previous period, in line with initial estimates. This rise was driven by seasonal increases in manufactured product prices (+1.1% vs +0.3%), particularly in clothing and footwear (+5.7% vs +1.4%). Meanwhile, the EU-harmonized annual inflation rate held steady at 0.9%, while it increased by 0.2% month-on-month, both in line with preliminary data.
