Trading was volatile immediately after the decision and during Chair Powell’s press conference, where he described the move more as a “risk management” cut and noted that there are no risk-free paths. Investors now appear to be betting that the central bank will focus on its employment mandate. The Fed reduced the federal funds rate by 25 basis points yesterday and signaled an additional 50bps of cuts this year, followed by another 25bps reduction in 2026. On the corporate front, Nvidia shares jumped more than 3% in premarket trading, while Intel soared nearly 29% after announcing that Nvidia will invest $5 billion for a minority stake in the company.
