The FTSE MIB fell 0.4% to around 43,000 on Wednesday, tracking global equity declines amid concerns over elevated valuations across AI-focused and technology shares. Investors also focused on a fresh batch of corporate results, with Nexi leading losses, down more than 6%, after the Italian payments group reported a 0.9% rise in third-quarter core profit to €526.4 million, slightly below the company-provided consensus of €530 million, while reaffirming its 2025 guidance. Leonardo also slipped over 1% despite securing a joint venture contract to supply armored vehicles to the Italian army. Other notable laggards included Banca Mediolanum (-1.1%), Telecom Italia (-1.2%), Banca Generali (-1.3%), and Diasorin (-1.3%). On the data front, a fresh PMI survey showed that the Italian private sector expanded to its strongest level in over one-and-a-half years, supported by a stronger rise in services activity and renewed growth in manufacturing output.
