The FTSE 100 slipped around 0.7% to 9,260 on Tuesday as markets reopened for a holiday-shortened week. The decline ended a five-day winning streak that had pushed the index to record highs for four consecutive sessions. Losses were led by retailers, food & drink producers and financials. Primark owner AB Foods led the declines, down nearly 4%, followed by B&Q owner Kingfisher, Coca-Cola HBC, Prudential, Weir Group, and NatWest. British American Tobacco was also among the worst performers, falling more than 2% after announcing the immediate departure of its finance chief Soraya Benchikh, after roughly 15 months in the position. On the upside, shares of distribution giant Bunzl PLC jumped over 6% to lead the index, after the company resumed its share buyback program and reaffirmed its 2025 outlook, despite reporting an 11.2% decline in first-half profit.
