Regular pay excluding bonuses in the UK rose by 5.6% year-on-year to GBP 671 per week in the three months to March 2025, easing from a 5.9% increase in the previous period and falling short of market expectations of 5.7%. This marked the slowest pace of growth since the three months to November 2024. Private-sector wage growth fell to a five-month low of (5.6% vs 5.9% in the three months to February), while public-sector pay rose 5.1%, the smallest gain in four months. Among industries, the strongest annual wage growth was seen in wholesale, retail, hotels, and restaurants (6.9%), followed by construction (6.4%), services (5.6%), manufacturing (5.4%), and finance and business services (4.0%). Adjusted for inflation, real wages grew by 1.8%, the weakest increase since February 2024.
