The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce’s consumer confidence index increased to 57.9 in December 2024, up from 56.9 in the previous month. This marked the third consecutive period of improvement and the highest reading since June, mainly supported by government economic measures and a surge in tourism. In 2024, the country registered 35.55 million foreign tourist arrivals, surging 26.27% yoy, surpassing 2024 arrivals targets, tourism ministry data showed. The latest reading was also in line with the improvement in Thailand’s GDP, growing 3% annually in Q3, the strongest economic growth in two years, driven by faster rises in government spending and a rebound in fixed investment. Meanwhile, inflation rose to 1.23% in December, within the central bank’s 1%-3% target range for the first time in seven months, due to higher fuel prices.
