Exports from Thailand grew 10.2% yoy to USD 25.6 billion in April 2025, exceeding forecasts of 9.1% growth, as factories rushed to ship goods after President Trump announced a 90-day pause in April on plans to impose a 36% levy on Thai exports. This marked the tenth consecutive month of export growth, but also the slowest pace since last December, and a sharp slowdown from the 17.8% surge recorded in March, boosted by industrial and agro-industrial products (9.1%). Exports of industrial products surged by 16.6%, due mainly to higher sales of computers (75.1%), rubber products (15.9%), and ICs (39.0%). Conversely, exports of agricultural products plunged 19.6%, including rice (-44.1%) and dried fruits (-38.5%). Exports increased to the US (23.8%), China (3.2%), Japan (5.5%), the EU (6.1%), and the ASEAN (7.8%). The US was Thailand’s largest export market last year, accounting for 18.3% of total shipments. For the first four months of 2025, exports rose by 14.0% yoy to USD 107.2 billion.
