Imports to Taiwan rose to 6.5% year-on-year to USD 34.4 billion in October 2024, slowing sharply from a 17.3% growth in the previous month. This marked the softest expansion since May, as imports declined for mineral products (-14.2%), particularly petroleum (-31.6%). However, sales increased for information, communication and audio-video products (18.6%), parts of electronic products (14.9%), and machinery (13.6%). Among main suppliers, purchases went up the most from South Korea (61.5%), followed by ASEAN countries (13.3%), Europe (12.4%), and Japan (5.9%). Considering January to October period, imports were posted at USD 323.97 billion, a 9.8% higher than during the corresponding period last year.
