Sweden’s annual inflation rate accelerated to 0.7% in June 2025 from 0.2% in May but revised slightly lower from the initial estimate of 0.8%. This marks the highest reading since February, though it remains well below the Riksbank’s 2% target. Notable upward contributions came from clothing and footwear (2.9% vs 1.7% in May), recreation and culture (4% vs 0.8%), and restaurants and hotels (4.6% vs 3.3%). Inflation for food and non-alcoholic beverages also edged up slightly to 5.3% from 5.2%. Meanwhile, downward pressure persisted from deflation in housing and utilities (-4.2% vs -3%) and transport (-2.3% vs -4.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose by 0.5%, up from a 0.1% increase in May—marking the strongest monthly gain since February. The annual CPIF (consumer price index with a fixed interest rate), the Riksbank’s preferred inflation measure, climbed to a four-month high of 2.8%, while CPIF inflation rose 0.5% month-over-month, compared with a 0.1% gain in May.
