Sweden’s trade surplus increased to SEK 14.4 billion in February 2025 from SEK 11.2 billion in the same month of the previous year. This marks the second-largest trade surplus since 2009, as exports rose and imports fell. Exports grew by 1.0% year-on-year to SEK 174.1 billion, driven by a 7.0% rise in sales to non-EU countries, whereas shipments to EU countries declined by 3.7%. Meanwhile, imports fell by 0.9% to SEK 159.7 billion, with purchases from the EU decreasing by 1.6%, and those from non-EU countries rising by 0.6%. On a seasonally adjusted basis, the trade surplus increased to SEK 7.4 billion from SEK 6.1 billion in the previous month. Considering the first two months of the year, the trade surplus expanded to SEK 28.9 billion, compared to SEK 23.8 billion in the corresponding period of the previous year.
