Sweden’s annual inflation rate eased to 0.9% in September 2025 from a six-month high of 1.1% in August, confirming preliminary estimates and moving further below the Riksbank’s 2% target. Price growth slowed for food and non-alcoholic beverages (3.3% vs 4.7% in August), clothing and footwear (1.7% vs 3.2%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (1.3% vs 1.5%), and miscellaneous goods and services (3.5% vs 3.8%). In addition, prices declined further for housing and utilities (-2.3% vs -1.9%) and furnishings and household goods (-2.3% vs -0.4%). Conversely, inflation accelerated for restaurants and hotels (4.1% vs 2.9%), while transport costs were unchanged (0% vs -1.4%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices were flat, after a 0.4% fall in the previous month. Meanwhile, the CPI with a fixed interest rate (CPIF), the Riksbank’s preferred inflation measure, rose by 3.1% year-on-year in September, easing slightly from 3.2% in August, which had marked the highest level since January 2024.
