Household spending in Sweden rose by 0.5% month-over-month in April 2025, reversing a downwardly revised 0.1% fall in the previous month. Consumption increased for several sub-indices, including furniture, interior design items, household equipment and consumables (10.1% vs 7.2%), recreation and culture, goods and services (9.9% vs 9.2%), and food and beverage spending (3% vs 1.4%). Meanwhile, consumption rebounded for both transport, retail sales, and motor vehicle services (4.6% vs -1.9%) and restaurants, cafes, hotel and other accommodation services (0.8% vs -1.5%). On the other hand, consumption slowed for post and telecommunications (2.8% vs 5.9%) and declined further for other goods and services (-9.6% vs -6.2%). On a yearly basis, household spending climbed to 2.7% in April, after a downwardly revised 1.4% gain in the prior month.
