Sweden’s household confidence indicator jumped to 96.8 in October 2025, from an upwardly revised 93.3 in the previous month, though it remains below the long-term average. Still, the latest figure marked the highest reading since January, as households’ views of their own finances over the past year turned positive (3 vs -5 in September), while expectations for their financial situation over the next twelve months strengthened (16 vs 14). Moreover, households’ assessment of the broader economy over the past twelve months (-32 vs -39) was less negative, as were their expectations for the economy in the year ahead (-5 vs -6). Job insecurity eased, with fewer respondents expecting higher unemployment (20 vs 30), bringing perceptions in line with the historical average. Meanwhile, inflation expectations for the coming year edged down to 6.7% from 6.9%, while mortgage rate expectations remained largely unchanged (3.4% vs 3.5%).
