The FTSE MIB rose 0.3% to above 44,000 in early trading on Tuesday, extending part of the more than 2% gain from the previous session and hovering near its highest level since January 2001. Investor sentiment was supported by signs the US government shutdown is ending, as a bipartisan Senate deal passed 60–40 on Monday, to end the longest shutdown in US history. Among individual stocks, notable gains were seen in Moncler (+2.3%), Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (+2.3%), A2A (+1.7%), Bper Banca (+1.6%), and Nexi (+1.3%). On the downside, Infrastrutture Wireless shed over 8% after reporting a 5.9% rise in Q3 net profit but lowering revenue guidance for next year. Leonardo also fell more than 2%, following the announcement of CFO Alessandra Genco’s departure.
