The BSE Sensex tracked an overnight rally on Wall Street, buoyed by optimism over potential Fed rate cuts at next week’s meeting. Renewed hopes for trade talks between US President Donald Trump and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also lifted sentiment. However, traders remained cautious ahead of India’s August inflation data, due later today, with market expectations pointing to a rise to 2.1%—still within the RBI's tolerance range of 2–6%. Most sectors traded in the green, led by metals and technology. Among the top performers were Axis Bank (1.5%), Infosys (1.4%), Tata Motors (1.4%), Larsen & Toubro (1.2%), and Maruti Suzuki (1.2%). For the week, the index is on track for a 1.3% gain, which would mark its second consecutive weekly increase, supported by ongoing reforms to the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
