India's BSE Sensex closed marginally down at 82,102,1 after a volatile session on Tuesday, its lowest since mid-September, marking a third straight decline. Losses in consumer goods and IT stocks pressured the index, while autos, banks, and metals provided some support. Market sentiment remained dented by foreign fund outflows, concerns over higher US H-1B visa fees, and lingering uncertainty over the India-US trade talks. On the data front, preliminary data showed India’s private sector growth slowed in September from August’s record pace, with both manufacturing output and services activity moderating. Among individual stocks, Tech Mahindra (-2.1%), Trent (-2%), UltraTech Cement (-1.9%), Hindustan Unilever (-1.8%), Asian Paints (-1.4%), Eternal (-0.9%) and ITC (-0.8%) were the biggest laggards. On the upside, Axis Bank led the gains, rising 2.2%, after HSBC reiterated "buy" rating and lifted price target to 1,340 rupees from 1,270 rupees, citing improving earnings outlook.
