Luxury stocks, autos and tech companies also posted significant losses. In parallel, there are growing expectations for an intervention by the Russian president after Moscow delivered its first indirect no to the US-Kiev truce proposal.

Fitch Ratings is set to review France’s AA- credit score on Friday, which has carried a negative outlook since October due to worsening fiscal consolidation and the government's commitment to increasing defense spending. Earlier this month, the surge in European bond yields was triggered by Germany’s plans to ramp up spending, including the approval of a major expansion of state borrowing and a €500 billion infrastructure fund. Additionally, the European Central Bank (ECB) adopted a more cautious stance on future rate adjustments while raising its near-term inflation forecasts. ECB President Christine Lagarde also warned that maintaining price stability will become increasingly challenging amid rising trade tensions and ambitious fiscal spending plans.
