The CAC 40 rose 0.4% to 7,856 on Friday, extending gains from the previous session and on track for its second consecutive weekly gain, as investors assessed a fresh round of corporate earnings and news while monitoring developments in trade talks between the US and the European Union. Vivendi led the index with a 5.6% surge, reaching its highest level since May 2002 after the French financial markets authority required Bolloré to launch a mandatory takeover bid for the media group. In addition, Legrand gained 2.2% to hit a new all-time high after announcing a €22 million investment to expand its production capacity for the data center market. Moreover, luxury stocks contributed to the market's advance, with Kering rising 1.6%, LVMH adding 0.9%, and Hermès gaining 0.7%, following stronger-than-expected quarterly sales from UK peer Burberry, which boosted investor sentiment across the luxury segment.
