Hopes for ending the longest government shutdown in US history grew after the US Senate voted 60-40 to pass a bill, following a Sunday agreement between defecting Democrats and some Republicans. Among individual stocks, LVMH shares jumped over 2% after Bloomberg reported the luxury group plans to open major stores in China in December and is considering further expansion in the region.
