Chinese authorities have issued a work plan aimed at supporting the steady operation and structural upgrading of the country’s steel industry, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Monday, as reported by Xinhua. For the 2025–2026 period, China’s steel industry is targeted to achieve an average annual value-added output growth of around 4%, along with improved economic performance, better-balanced market supply and demand, and a more optimized industrial structure, the work plan states. The plan was jointly released by the MIIT and four other government bodies. The plan emphasizes strengthening industry management to phase out backward and inefficient production capacity, support competitive enterprises, and promote a balanced market. Technological innovation should be enhanced to boost the supply of high-end products, improve the quality of bulk materials, and stabilize the supply of raw and fuel materials.

Technology stocks led gains, with Hygon Information Technology up 10.6%, Cambricon Technologies rising 3.4%, Foxconn Industrial climbing 6.6%, and Dawning Information Technology jumping 10%.
