Exports from China rose by 7.2% year-on-year to USD 321.8 billion in July 2025, beating market expectations of a 5.4% increase and accelerating from a 5.8% gain in June. It was the fastest pace of outbound shipments since April, driven by a temporary easing of tariff pressures ahead of the August deadline. By destination, exports grew to to Japan (2.4%), South Korea (4.6%), Taiwan (19.2%), Australia 14.8%), the EU (9.2%), and the ASEAN (16.6%). In contrast, exports to the United States continued to fall, declining 21.7% year-on-year in July, following a 16.1% drop in June. For the first seven months of 2025, China’s exports climbed 6.1% year-on-year, totaling USD 2.13 trillion. During this period, shipments increased for for agricultural products (1.8%), fertilizer (49.3%), and ships (15.5%). By region, exports rose to the ASEAN (0.2%), South Korea (0.3%), and Taiwan (10.5%), while declining to the US (-10.3%), Russia (-7.7%), India (-7.1%), and the UK (-5.2%).
