1982年英国国宝级歌手洛 · 史都华(Rod Stewart)为米高 · 基顿主演的电影《大夜班》(Night Shift)所唱"That's What Friends Are For"在四年后被狄昂 · 华薇克(Dionne Warwick)联手Elton John、Stevie Wonder和Gladys Knight唱红，并荣获1986年度第29届格莱美奖最佳单曲(Song Of The Year)。后收录在《Dionne Warwick And Friends》这张专辑中。 此后，又先后有Whitney Houston、Dionne Warwick、Stevie Wonder、Luther Vandross合唱；Diana Ross、Whitney Houston、Gladys Knight、Madona合唱；Westlife & All Stars在"Royal Variety 2003演唱会"上的现场演唱等各式版本。 很可惜，洛 · 史都华(Rod Stewart)的原唱只能在电影原声碟里找到，却没有包括在他的任何专辑或精选集里。 这首歌1987年在上海电台首播时，中文名称被翻译为《交朋友的道理》。
